MAC Mineralize Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist Review

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist

Happy Friday!

I’m back with another MAC review and not to mention a SPOT-ON dupe for the Smashbox Primer Water – read my review of that here. The ingredients are almost identical; they smell the same, they perform the same, I would say that it is pretty much the same thing.

I love using charged water as a primer because it gives me a little bit of moisture and tackiness without a layer of unnecessary product under my foundation. I do go in with a pore filler on my cheeks but I love spraying this all over my face – it’s quick and easy.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water

I prefer this packaging to the Smashbox one because the spray locks – it is the same packaging as the Fix +.This product is about $10 CAD cheaper than the Smashbox Primer Water however, the Smashbox contains 115ml, where as this contains 100ml. They both perform the same and have a really pleasant mild scent which quickly absorbs and disappears. I like using this over makeup as well – it settles down the powders that I layer over foundation.

Overall, I highly recommend this and I’m glad I found such a close dupe! Seriously couldn’t believe that they are essentially the same product almost!

Have you tried this or the Smashbox Primer Water? Let me know down below!

My Clarins Re-Fresh & Re-Boost Review

My Clarins Re-Fresh Re-Boost

Hello everyone!

My Clarins is a fairly new line that Clarins has come out with – the amazing thing about it is that the products in this range are up to 95% natural and vegan and I also have to mention that the price point of these products are very reasonable!

My Clarins Re-Fresh Re-Boost

The products in this range all include good-for-you ingredients and they specifically state that they are free from sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, formaldehydes, and so on. They also mention that even though the products smell amazing there is less than 1% of synthetic fragrances; which I really enjoy because my skin tends to become textured when I use heavily fragranced skincare.

My Clarins Re-Fresh Hydrating Beauty Mist

Starting off with the Re-Fresh beauty mist – it comes housed in a very luxurious-feeling glass bottle which is rather heavy. It contains 100ml of product which is a good amount for a facial spray and it is meant to be used during skincare application or after makeup. I have used this both ways and I love setting my face with this after makeup application – it settles down the powder and gives a skin-like sheen without disturbing my makeup. The scent is amazing; it is fruity and floral and is fairly strong but does not linger. This contains coconut water, robina flower water, and extracts of alpenrose, fog and acerola seed. I really enjoy the finish that it gives my skin after heavily powdering it (I have a very oily skin type).

My Clarins Re-Boost Refreshing Hydrating Cream

This moisturizer also comes housed in a glass jar which is very pretty and I do like it however, I wish it came with a pump as I wouldn’t have to stick my fingers into the product every time I want to apply it. This also has a beautiful fruity/floral scent that makes me happy every time I apply it on my skin. This also contains the same ingredients as the facial mist with the exception of goji berry instead of robina flower. I would describe the texture of this as being a light-weight cream because it feels very moisturizing but soaks in quickly and does not leave me with a greasy film. It doesn’t shorten the longevity of my makeup, which is very important to me, as I’ve liked moisturizers in the past but they ended up acting strange under makeup (balling up, making me more oily than usual over time). This has become my everyday moisturizer for weeks now!

I absolutely love these skincare products and would purchase once these run out because I use them daily in my skincare/makeup routine. I highly recommend both.

Aveeno MaxGlow Serum + Primer and Micellar Gel Cleanser Review

Aveeno MaxGlow Micellar Gel Cleanser

Happy Wednesday!

Today I want to review these two products since I have been testing them out for a few weeks and I’m pleasantly surprised with both!

I know that those of you who are familiar with my blog and have read my previous posts are thinking how on earth this OIL primer is working out for me since I have an extremely oily skin type. And all I have to say to that is; yes, I know I’m shocked as well! The first time I tried this oil/serum product as a primer I was going out for only an hour or two so I thought that even if it looked terrible and made me look like an oil slick it wouldn’t be too bad. However, after the few hours I noticed that my skin didn’t look like an oily mess; it looked hydrated and my foundation was very smooth and healthy looking! I guess my skin didn’t feel the need to produce a massive amount of oil because I had applied this product? – honestly, I’m not quite sure how this works but I’m so glad I tried it! The scent is very pleasant and once you shake it up the oil and serum blend together and after patting it on the skin, it allows foundation to glide on seamlessly on top.

Aveeno MaxGlow Serum + Primer

This cleanser is a nice change from the ones that I usually like; which strip my skin of all product/oils. Because my skin is very oily and I usually feel the need for a cleanser that deep cleans. This leaves my skin clean but very comfortable as it hydrates while it cleanses so I don’t feel that pulling sensation when I dry my face. I have been using this in the mornings when I don’t need such a deep clean and this product leaves my skin with a glow that is surprising as I have never had a cleanser do that before!

I highly recommend these products if you have a dry skin type and for oily skin types as well as I have recently read a lot about why our skin produces so much oil and it’s usually due to it being dehydrated!

Have you tried the Aveeno MaxGlow line? Let me know in the comments section below!

Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser Review

Clinique pep-start 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser

Hi everyone!

I have a quick review of this Clinique cleanser for today. I had this little sample sized one for a while and hadn’t reached for it, but a few weeks ago I decided to try it out and was pleasantly surprised!

Clinique pep-start 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser

I’m bad at describing scents but this has somewhat of a grapefruit scent which wakes you up in the morning as most citrus scents do. It comes out as a thick gel and I was confused about the exfoliating aspect, but as soon as I started massaging this onto my face I felt the tiny beads gently exfoliating.

Clinique pep-start 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser

This cleanser left my skin feeling soft and not irritated as some scrubs do.

I definitely recommend this cleanser – especially for oily skin types as it really clears out your pores and gets rid of excess oil.

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum Review

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had an amazing holiday/new years! Today I want to write a short review on this serum as I’ve been putting it to the test for about 3-4 weeks and I have gathered my thoughts on it.

What set this serum aside from the others I own is that it is marketed as an organic, really “pure” formula. It is targeted towards oily/combination skin and helps to reduce breakouts (contains salicylic acid), evens skintone (Vitamin C), Smooths texture (CoQ10), and hydrates (aloe, green/white tea). It contains other organic ingredients and antioxidants which are all suppose to help you get an overall improved complexion.

The first week that I tried this out I noticed that my existing acne was healing faster than usual but on the second week I did have two breakouts and again the same thing – I noticed that it wouldn’t stick around for more than a day or two. I did notice a slight improvement in my skin as it is more smooth – less texture which I noticed while applying highlighter. My redness has also lessened quite a bit and my pores seem slightly less noticeable. It is hard to measure the effectiveness of a serum but by swapping my other serum with this I can say that I notice subtle but clear results.

Overall, I enjoy this and will definitely use it up! I also like knowing that this serum is formulated without any of the bad ingredients and my skin seems to love it so far.

Physicians Formula Rose All Day Oil-Free Serum Review + Swatch

Physicians Formula Rose All Day Oil-Free Serum

Hello everyone!

This serum isn’t like any other, it’s a skincare-makeup item because it has the benefits of a serum but it also gives a gorgeous pink-champagne glow to the skin! I’ve been using this for a while now and thought I would share my review on it today.

Physicians Formula Rose All Day Oil-Free Serum

The packaging is simple but sweet, it contains a dropper which I don’t mind for serums (my favourite is with a pump). The packaging has a weight to it which makes it slightly more luxurious but maybe not the best for travelling.

Physicians Formula Rose All Day Oil-Free Serum

This product has a prominent rose scent but it is a natural rose scent – not an artificial one which makes me feel like I’m putting on an expensive product. This is described as an oil-free pearluminous formula which helps to tighten and brighten. It contains rose water, Goji and Kakadu Plum which are Vitamin C and antioxidant rich. But let’s be real – – I bought this for the glow and maybe not so much for the skincare part but I do appreciate that it is beneficial for the skin.

This product absorbs/dries down within seconds which I love because I don’t like adding on thick layers to my skin as I’m oily and that results in my makeup not lasting very long. This looks really pretty under sheer/matte finishes because the glow is toned down and makes the finish of the foundation more skin-like and not flat. I also like how this has a pretty reflect that flashes slightly pink as it color corrects and brightens. It’s a little difficult to see the pink reflect in the swatch below but trust me it is noticeable in person.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a skincare-makeup hybrid that is good for your skin (hypoallergenic, paraben-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, clinically tested and dermatologist tested) while wanting a pretty fresh pink/pearl glow then you will enjoy this.

I’m super curious to try out the 24 karat serum but can’t find it anywhere in stores! Have you tried these serums from Physicians Formula?

Milk Makeup Charcoal Cleanser (with sea water?) Review

Milk Makeup Charcoal Cleanser

Hi everyone!

This is the first product that I’ve tried from Milk Makeup, mainly because they aren’t really talked about and have never grabbed my attention. Until this product; as someone with extremely oily skin I love anything with charcoal in it. Charcoal is meant to help with oil control as it absorbs oil and other toxins in the skin.

Milk Makeup Charcoal Cleanser

The packaging is pretty simple but cool. I like the see-through plastic with white lettering and the product itself is black so it’s a nice contrast. It comes with a squeeze bottle which I don’t mind because the cap pops off and doesn’t twist off. I absolutely hate twist off caps for cleansers because I have to grab the bottle with wet hands and try to twist it open & close – it’s the worst!

The product itself has a pleasant scent; almost shampoo-like and it foams up slightly while remaining a bit creamy at the same time. I definitely feel like it does a good job with removing oils and left over makeup but it doesn’t strip my skin afterwards – I don’t get the skin pulling sensation which drying face washes give.

This cleanser includes interesting ingredients such as Vitamin E and marine water – like actual sea water is listed in the ingredients (not exactly sure what that’s good for, comment below if you do please!). Also, I don’t recall seeing Vitamin E in a cleanser either but I guess that’s why I don’t feel like this cleanser sucks the life out of my skin afterwards. Overall, I’m enjoying this cleanser and have already bought a back up since I’m actually rather picky with cleansers and this gets the job done!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum & Gel-Cream Review

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum Gel Cream

Hi everyone!

If you’ve read my previous skincare reviews, you’d know that I have a bit of a difficult skin type. It’s super oily all over but it can get very dry in the winter months – so you could say I have dehydrated oily skin. I also have struggled with acne but that’s more so in the past and after switching to Clinique products it isn’t my main issue anymore. I also get tiny bumps on my cheeks and forehead which I believe is due to either clogged pores (due to very oily skin) or it could be because I’m sensitive to the sun. Long story short; my skin is very sensitive and I’m always leery of using new products because I never know how my skin will react. I’ve been testing this serum and moisturizer for a few weeks now and I’m excited to give my review on them today!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum Gel Cream

Starting off with the serum; I like the simple packaging and the mild but pleasant scent that this product has. The consistency isn’t thin but it isn’t thick either; it spreads out and absorbs quickly but not fully where it would leave my skin dry – it adds moisture. The moisturizer is actually not too different consistency-wise from the serum as this is a gel-cream it is super light-weight but packs a punch in terms of leaving my skin super hydrated and plumped.

I use the serum and moisturizer in my morning routine because I love how it preps my skin for makeup. It creates a nice bouncy, plumped canvas that allows my face makeup to look fresh and not cakey. Both products contain glycerin which leaves my skin slightly tacky after application which I like when I prep my skin for makeup because I find that it helps my foundation last longer but I do not enjoy this for night because of that reason. I also enjoy the fact that these products are 97% natural and the ingredient list is so tiny compared to other similar products. These also contain hyaluronic acid which is my second ingredient after Vitamin C in skincare. Hyaluronic acid helps bring moisture to the skin.

Did I really enjoy this serum and moisturizer? Yes, because it gave me hydration without greasiness and it noticeably plumped my skin and smoothed out texture. I’m half-way through the serum and about 2/3 of the gel-cream is remaining and I’m already thinking about where I can find these products on sale after I finish them!

I’ve heard good things about Vichy’s sunscreen but never tried. What would you recommend I try next from Vichy?

Clinique All About Eyes Review

Clinique All About Eyes

Hello everyone!

I did a review a while back on the Clinique All About Eyes Rich eye cream, and as I mentioned in that review I got milia (small white bumps) and I’m almost certain that it was caused by that formula! I have never gotten milia and within a few weeks I noticed three of them around my eyes. I instantly stopped using that eye cream and went back to this one and they disappeared!

Clinique All About Eyes Eye Cream

Unlike my negative experience using the Rich formula, I really enjoy the original all about eyes. As you can see from the pictures, I have the large 30ml and it is completely finished! I have also finished up a 15ml jar as well and for now, I have a few mini 5ml jars which I will definitely use up! I enjoy the consistency of this super light-weight formula; it absorbs nicely and is almost gel-like in consistency. It’s definitely hydrating but it’s not the best if your looking for a really moisturizing eye cream.

I will say that this eye cream has definitely helped in preventing fine lines around the eyes because it keeps the area hydrated. However, since I do not have existing wrinkles so I can not comment about how effective this product is for that. This product also claims to help with dark circles and puffiness. I have dark circles due to my skin being very thin around my eyes and my purple/blue veins show through but I don’t think there is any cream that would be able to help with that. This eye cream targets discoloration and pigmentation around the eyes and from the reviews I’ve read on Sephora; many claim that it has lighten their under eyes.

In conclusion, I really enjoy this eye cream more so during summer months since my under eyes aren’t too dehydrated. Also, I would never recommend the Rich formula because of the weird small white bumps that appeared after use and disappeared after I stopped using it.

Have you guys tried Clinique eye creams? Which one is your favourite?

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water Review

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

Hi everyone!

I’m going to be super honest when I say that this bottle of primer water is a little up there in price for what it really is ($39 CAD). Now, I hate that I absolutely love it and I may have to repurchase since I’m half way done and can’t stop using it everyday!

As always, starting off with the packaging; it comes in a see-through simple plastic bottle which is great for travel because it won’t break and is not heavy. This bottle contains 115 ml which is larger than my other setting sprays (usually containing 50ml). The spray nozzle is really nice; it sprays out the nicest, soft, most even mist that isn’t concentrated in one spot. The product itself has a nice very subtle scent – I’m horrible at describing scents but it’s very refreshing and almost citrus I want to say.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

I use this product mainly for priming my skin but I do have to go in with a pore filler since I have larger pores and this does nothing for them. I feel that this product makes my foundation glide on better; it absorbs quickly but leaves a light film which plumps my skin and is forgiving on dry patches. I also apply this after I’ve finished my face makeup and I feel that it gives a nice healthy skin-like finish – very similar to how MAC Fix + just melts everything together. I would say that this product works better for oily skin types while the MAC Fix + is slightly heavier and more suitable for dry skin types.

I hope to see this product on sale so I can grab one (or two)! What do you think about this primer water? Would you purchase/repurchase?
