e.l.f. Contour Palette Review + Swatches

e.l.f. Contour Palette

Hello again,

I’ve been looking for a good contour palette for a while now and after reading some good reviews on this I was really excited to try it out.

e.l.f. Contour Palette

I really like the packaging of the e.l.f. blush, contour and highlight palette because you can remove a pan from one palette and switch it with another. They are fairly lightweight and sturdy – good for travelling.

The formula is not the best; it is powdery and not very pigmented. They do feel buttery and honestly, I don’t mind that the contour shade (bottom right) isn’t pigmented because I can slowly build it up and it doesn’t look too intense but I wish that the bronzer (bottom left) had more pigmentation. The highlight shade is very light  – almost white and it has a slight glow but is very subtle. I’m not exactly sure what the top right side is suppose to be – a bronzer/powder? but it isn’t useful at all for me because it’s too light to be a bronzer and too dark to be a face powder.

Swatched multiple times to build up color (shade light/medium). Left to right: highlight, powder?, bronzer and contour.

Overall, I’m not impressed with this contour palette and my search will continue. If you want to check out a contour palette that I would recommend click here.

Serpentine Beauty Lipsticks (Entire Collection) Review + Swatches

Serpentine Beauty Lipsticks

Hello everyone!

I’m so excited to review & swatch these lipsticks for you today – it’s what I have been wearing on my lips since I received them!

Serpentine Beauty Lipsticks

I really like the packaging of these lipsticks – they come in a gorgeous gold bullet with a deep purple lid which won’t come off in your purse since it has a push-button top which releases the cap. The lipsticks have a very light vanilla scent which is extremely similar to MAC lipsticks but much fainter than their Bold Lip Glazes which you can read my review on here.

These lipsticks are fairly long wearing because of their extremely pigmented formula it sticks to lips but isn’t slippery or tacky in texture. This is my favourite lipstick formula because it sits nicely on the lips without moving around or gathering in the lip lines but at the same time doesn’t feel heavy or thick on the lips. The finish of the entire collection is described as a creamy velvet finish and I would say that’s about right – it is a creamy almost-matte finish.

Left to right: Pirouette, Nude Awakening, and Cheeky Minx.

Left to right: Vanity, Koukla, and Whiplash.

Left to right: Red Viper, Code Red, and Red Reaper.

I really like the variety of the nude and red shades; they have different undertones to flatter different skin tones which is great to see in a collection as a whole. I have no complaints about these lipsticks and feel that Serpentine Beauty definitely hit the mark when it comes to the formula and packaging. My only wish would be if they could include some mauve/ muted berry tones since I know that I like to reach for a mauve lipstick quite frequently. This is a Canadian brand and their products are cruelty-free and non comedogenic.

Shiseido Blotting Sheets Review

Shiseido Blotting Sheets

Hi everyone!

I always carry blotting sheets and powder with me wherever I go to avoid blinding people with my face oil.

I used to use powder to blot but it would always look cake-y afterwards; the powder and my oil would mix and it would make a weird paste almost – as you would imagine; it looked very unflattering.

Shiseido Blotting Sheets eBay

I found these blotting sheets on eBay for only a few bucks and so I thought I would try them out. I’m pretty certain these blotting sheets are not authentic because I can’t seem to find them on the Shiseido website but they work so well that I already ordered another 3. Shiseido has two types of blotting sheets and neither come in this baby pink holder – click here to view them. This one that I purchased (link below) comes with 120 sheets and each sheet absorbs quite a lot of oil. I blot about 3-4 times a day. I blot  quite frequently so that my oil doesn’t separate or move my makeup around which it tends to do on and around my nose. After I blot I can follow up with powder and it doesn’t get cake-y or look like paste.

I definitely recommend these sheets – they are about $4 CAD and they do their job!

Essence Longlasting Lipstick (On the Catwalk) Review + Swatch

Essence Long Lasting Lipstick 04 On the Catwalk

Hello again!

This isn’t my first time trying out the Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks – I have a review on another shade here. They have an amazing formulation – I was very excited to receive this other shade to review for you guys!

The unique thing about this line is that the formula is extremely creamy and moisturizing but they aren’t slippery or greasy feeling. I always put on a lip balm before any lip product so that they don’t drag on my lips or accentuate dry patches but with these you could definitely skip the lip balm. They glide on very nicely while staying put and not bleeding outside of the lip line.

This is a very unique shade – kind of hard for me to describe. It’s a muted dark pink/soft red with a mauve-ish undertone that is very flattering for all skin tones I would imagine. It isn’t bright nor is it too washed out – it’s the perfect medium.

Like I mentioned in my other review these lipsticks aren’t terribly pigmented but they can be built up rather quickly without feeling like you have too much product on your lips. Also, similar to the other lipstick shade these are decent in longevity seeing that they aren’t matte but a nice satin finish. They last about 5 hours but will wear off completely after a meal. They leave a light stain which I don’t mind because it’s uniform and not patchy like some other lipsticks.

I would recommend these lipsticks seeing as they perform very well and are very affordable!

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Review

Clinique Moisture Surge extended thrist relief

Hi everyone!

I didn’t know that a product like this existed until I started using it a few months ago and I’ve been loving it since!

It’s an oil-free cream-gel that claims to deeply hydrate skin with it’s hyaluronic acid which holds up to 1000 times it’s weight in water! It also contains aloe which is made to relieve dry flaking skin and help plump skin which instantly gets rid of fine lines.

Clinique Moisture Surge extended thrist relief

It’s formulated for all skin types since it is a gel that instantly sinks into the skin sort of like a serum but my skin instantly feels velvety and smooth. I like to apply this before the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and after the Clinique Clarifying Lotion.  I have lots of skincare products that I put in rotation but I have stuck to the Clinique 3 step for months now and I’ll switch up my serums and other products depending on what my skin needs at the time. I find that it works much better when it is applied before the moisturizing gel (any type of moisturizer) since it allows the product to fully absorb and not sit on top of the moisturizer.

I love how it makes my skin look very plump and healthy and it really helps with the dry patches that I get in the winter months. I could also see this being used instead or in combination with a primer to give a nice smooth base for makeup. However, I can’t use this instead of a moisturizer because it feels like a serum and isn’t moisturizing enough even for my oily skin.

I would recommend this for everyone; it’s paraben-free, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free  and noncomedogenic.

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum Review

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum

Hello again!

This serum claims to diminish fine lines/wrinkles, brighten skin tone/even dark spots, lift and firm and lastly improve radiance and texture. It’s an all-in-one serum that definitely got my attention because it’s suppose to target your specific skin concerns.

I like the packaging because I prefer a pump for serums over a dropper – it is airtight and will stay fresh a lot longer. The serum itself has a slip to it – it isn’t a liquid that is runny but sort of like a serum and moisturizer in one. It instantly plumps the skin after just one application and it makes your skin super smooth and soft. Before I get into the results; I’m in my mid twenties with some acne scarring, slightly uneven textured skin, fairly noticeable pores and a very oily complexion.

After about 6 weeks of daily use I noticed a huge difference – 90% of my acne scars were gone and the other 10% were hardly noticeable! I noticed that my skin looked overall more radiant and plump; it looks very hydrated and healthy. It also helped with my skin texture – I felt much more confident without foundation because I had a healthy glow. I don’t struggle with lines and wrinkles or sagginess so I can’t comment about that but since it deeply hydrates I would imagine that it would lessen the look of lines and wrinkles.

Overall, I really enjoyed this serum but it is on the expensive side however, if your desperate for a serum that can lighten acne spots – this is my recommendation to you.

Younique Touch Glorious Face Primer Review (from a non-presenter!)

Younique Touch Glorious Face Primer

Hello everyone!

I know we’ve all been curious about Younique products from seeing the pictures and videos on social media and I love being able to try out super hyped products and put them to the test!

First off, I like the squeeze tube packaging and how thin and sleek it is. It has a matte and glossy black tube which looks very high-end and luxurious. On the website you don’t get a list of product claims but they have a fairly brief description of how this primer will give you velvety soft skin that will keep your makeup intact all day long. I’ve tried this out everyday for almost 2 weeks and I have a fairly decent idea of the pros and cons of this primer.

Before I get into that I want to point out that I have extremely oily skin with somewhat noticeable pores on my nose and cheeks. I do get some texture on my skin from time to time but I haven’t had any breakouts in a while (thanks to the Clinique 3 step). This primer has a very moisturizing formula along with that silicon texture which feels almost greasy but then sets to a nice smooth base. It gives a very slight blurring effect but you don’t notice how smooth it makes your skin until you apply the foundation on top. The foundation blends effortlessly and my skin looks smooth and almost flawless. I don’t notice it mattifying or giving my foundation a dewy glow – it doesn’t change the finish of your foundation – which I like.

Younique Touch Glorious Face Primer

I don’t expect a miracle to happen with any primer or foundation in keeping my skin matte – since my face oil-production is uncontrollable and this primer doesn’t claim to do that. I didn’t feel that this primer gave my makeup longevity since my oily skin tends to break apart my foundation after about 5 hours but with some blotting sheets and powder my makeup was intact for the whole work day.

Overall, I think this is a really nice primer for normal to dry skin types (tested on mom); for those of us with oily skin – the search will remain for the miracle primer that can control oil.
