If you’ve read my previous skincare reviews, you’d know that I have a bit of a difficult skin type. It’s super oily all over but it can get very dry in the winter months – so you could say I have dehydrated oily skin. I also have struggled with acne but that’s more so in the past and after switching to Clinique products it isn’t my main issue anymore. I also get tiny bumps on my cheeks and forehead which I believe is due to either clogged pores (due to very oily skin) or it could be because I’m sensitive to the sun. Long story short; my skin is very sensitive and I’m always leery of using new products because I never know how my skin will react. I’ve been testing this serum and moisturizer for a few weeks now and I’m excited to give my review on them today!
Starting off with the serum; I like the simple packaging and the mild but pleasant scent that this product has. The consistency isn’t thin but it isn’t thick either; it spreads out and absorbs quickly but not fully where it would leave my skin dry – it adds moisture. The moisturizer is actually not too different consistency-wise from the serum as this is a gel-cream it is super light-weight but packs a punch in terms of leaving my skin super hydrated and plumped.
I use the serum and moisturizer in my morning routine because I love how it preps my skin for makeup. It creates a nice bouncy, plumped canvas that allows my face makeup to look fresh and not cakey. Both products contain glycerin which leaves my skin slightly tacky after application which I like when I prep my skin for makeup because I find that it helps my foundation last longer but I do not enjoy this for night because of that reason. I also enjoy the fact that these products are 97% natural and the ingredient list is so tiny compared to other similar products. These also contain hyaluronic acid which is my second ingredient after Vitamin C in skincare. Hyaluronic acid helps bring moisture to the skin.
Did I really enjoy this serum and moisturizer? Yes, because it gave me hydration without greasiness and it noticeably plumped my skin and smoothed out texture. I’m half-way through the serum and about 2/3 of the gel-cream is remaining and I’m already thinking about where I can find these products on sale after I finish them!
I’ve heard good things about Vichy’s sunscreen but never tried. What would you recommend I try next from Vichy?

Welcome back to my second mini review this week – if you haven’t seen the first one; click here. So today I thought I would review this little travel-sized moisturizer which intrigued me because it has the word “plump” in it’s name!
This product claims to do lots of things such as deeply hydrate (contains Hyaluronic Acid), smooth and plump the skin so that fine lines are pushed away and less visible. It is a gel formula which I love because it isn’t heavy/thick or greasy feeling on the skin. It did instantly give me really soft smooth skin which I enjoyed. I don’t have any fine lines so I can’t comment on that claim but it did plump my skin with moisture so I would imagine that it would help minimize the look of fine lines. The only downside to this product is that the scent is very strong and very masculine-cologne type of smell which I do not enjoy rubbing all over my face.
Overall, besides the scent, this is a really nice moisturizer and I like applying this in the mornings before makeup because it absorbs quickly and doesn’t make me any more oily than I usually am.

I can’t control myself when I see a mattifying moisturizer and this one was even more intriguing because it claims to work as a mattifying primer as well.
On the website this product claims to blur the look of pores, reduce shine, smooth skin, and helps control pore-clogging oil with Salicylic Acid. It contains Vitamin C, Caffeine and Bisabolol which calms skin. On top of that it is oil-free, non-acnegenic, Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist tested.
Before we get in to how this worked for me I like to start with the packaging. I really like squeeze tubes; you don’t have to dip your finger in product and it is clean and compact. It’s also very light weight and sleek which makes it easy to store when travelling. I also like the white and silver packaging with a hint of blue; the packaging doesn’t look cheap at all.
The product itself is a white opaque cream and is very light-weight; feels almost like a gel consistency but not quite. The scent is mild and fresh and not bothersome or floral. When I rub this into my skin I feel it slightly mattifying but it doesn’t leave my skin completely matte. I need to follow up with a pore filler because this doesn’t really minimize my pores however, it does give me an instant radiance/brightening effect while removing excess oil. This can look great on no makeup days and when layered under foundation it sits nicely; doesn’t roll up or look cakey which is a problem that I have had with mattifying bases. It does prolong the time that I tend to get really oily and want to blot but it doesn’t eliminate the need to blot.
Overall, I like this product but it doesn’t live up to the claims that it makes. However, I have to mention that I’m very oily – more so than the average person!

Before I begin with the review I want to let you know that next week I will be posting a review everyday Monday to Friday. Each review will be of a mini travel-sized product that I think deserves a review on my blog and that I want to let you guys know about!
Now, lets continue with the review – I have been seeing these sheet masks from Tony Moly everywhere, in stores and online so I was very curious as to how effective they really are after one application. Each packet contains one sheet mask that is saturated in product. There are many different ones for almost every skin concern and I chose the hydrating Aloe.
The sheet mask itself is very nice; it sits well on the skin and has slits which can adjust to fit whether you have a short or long face. The mask is extremely saturated so you have to place a towel on your chest otherwise the product will drip and run down your face. The scent is very mild and pleasant; not at all overwhelming or bothersome which is very important since it needs to sit on the skin for 20 – 30 minutes. After removing the mask I massage the product into my skin and let it absorb. I instantly notice that my skin looks very plump and moisturized because of the glycerin, aloe and Hyaluronic acid that it contains.
I really liked the aloe formula and I will definitely be trying out the other sheet masks from Tony Moly. I purchased these masks from eBay for only $2 CAD a piece; I can’t find the seller but if you search this on eBay lots of sellers will come up and you can choose one.

This is a fairly new product from Clinique but I haven’t heard much about it on social media/YouTube. I knew if this was anything like the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief than I would love it!
This is described as a water-gel formula that boosts skin’s hydration for a full 24 hours. It also contains antioxidants – the little beads contain Vitamins C and E which is great because I always get the best results with serums/moisturizers that contain Vitamin C. Vitamin C brightens, lightens acne scars and has great anti-aging benefits.
The packaging is gorgeous; you can also see how much product you still have in the bottle. It contains a pump and is not housed in a jar or dropper type bottle; since it’s airtight the vitamins will stay fresh. I believe this contains hyaluronic acid as well which is the most effective ingredient to combat dryness. It feels very lightweight and refreshing upon application – it can feel a bit tacky if you apply too much; one pump is enough for the entire face.
I definitely feel the hydration and plumpness this gives my skin after each use but it doesn’t give that instant silky feeling that the Moisture Surge Extended gives. I have very oily skin and find that this can definitely replace my moisturizer but for dry skin types I would recommend that you layer a moisturizer on top of this.
Overall, I like how this contains some anti-aging benefits as well as replacing moisturizer for me but I would recommend the Moisture Surge Extended over this because I’m addicted to the instant softness that it gives.

The one product that is essential in my skincare routine is moisturizer. Even though I have extremely oily skin I always include a moisturizer in my morning and night routine. I find that if I happen to skip it my makeup does not sit right and I get even more oily than usual by the end of the day.
I was very excited to receive this face cream that Influenster sent me from Clarins complimentary to try out and review for you guys! First off, I was a bit worried that this might be too rich for me since this formula is for normal to dry skin and so I replaced this with my night cream for a couple of nights to see if it made much of a difference.
This is the small travel size (15ml) and not the full size which comes in a tub and contains 50ml of product. However, I prefer squeeze tubes or pumps because the product is not exposed to air every time you use it and it does not come in contact with your fingers. This product has a very artificial scent and as weird as this may sound; it smells like the sanitary pads that have a strong rose fragrance. It isn’t bad but it reminds me of that every single time I apply this to my face.
The cream itself is a white opaque consistency which is not at all greasy or heavy on the skin; it’s very lightweight and instantly moisturizes. It doesn’t leave any residue and absorbs in seconds which I prefer since I hate that heavy feeling some creams give.
Overall, this cream is nice because it contains the key ingredient Hyaluronic Acid which deeply moisturizes and Clarins advertises itself as a “natural plant-based” brand. However, this isn’t my favourite moisturizer because I prefer an oil-free gel consistency – I find my makeup sits better on my skin for whatever reason and the scent is a bit odd for me.

I didn’t know that a product like this existed until I started using it a few months ago and I’ve been loving it since!
It’s an oil-free cream-gel that claims to deeply hydrate skin with it’s hyaluronic acid which holds up to 1000 times it’s weight in water! It also contains aloe which is made to relieve dry flaking skin and help plump skin which instantly gets rid of fine lines.
It’s formulated for all skin types since it is a gel that instantly sinks into the skin sort of like a serum but my skin instantly feels velvety and smooth. I like to apply this before the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and after the Clinique Clarifying Lotion. I have lots of skincare products that I put in rotation but I have stuck to the Clinique 3 step for months now and I’ll switch up my serums and other products depending on what my skin needs at the time. I find that it works much better when it is applied before the moisturizing gel (any type of moisturizer) since it allows the product to fully absorb and not sit on top of the moisturizer.
I love how it makes my skin look very plump and healthy and it really helps with the dry patches that I get in the winter months. I could also see this being used instead or in combination with a primer to give a nice smooth base for makeup. However, I can’t use this instead of a moisturizer because it feels like a serum and isn’t moisturizing enough even for my oily skin.
I would recommend this for everyone; it’s paraben-free, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and noncomedogenic.

Finding the right moisturizer has always been difficult for me because I have an oily skin type and therefore I don’t want an oily, greasy formula.
I first tried the lotion (meant for dry to very dry skin types) in a gift with purchase and this stuff is very greasy! It made me so shiny – I could see the film of oil on my face. However, I did notice that my skin was noticeably soft after just one use of this but I had to stop using it because of the oil. Months after that first impression I noticed that Clinique has a gel formula that is oil-free and meant for oily skin types. I went for it and got the large 125 ml size with the pump and I’m so glad I did – this stuff is amazing! It is the perfect moisturizer for oily skin types; it’s light weight, moisturizing without the oil, makes my skin incredibly soft and smooth and lastly, it has a slight tackiness to it right after application which makes it the perfect base for makeup.
Clinique is known for having fragrance-free products and their formulas are made for sensitive skin. I have been using this for months now and I have not broken out, the (natural product not perfume) smell is not strong but it is definitely detectable however, it doesn’t bother me at all. I love that the formula absorbs fairly well and doesn’t sit on my skin or clump together when I apply foundation on top.
I see myself repurchasing this many times and this is the first moisturizer I would recommend to anyone that asks me. I would recommend the entire Clinique 3 step system (foaming face wash, clarifying lotion and this moisturizer); they are affordable but very effective in helping me get rid of textured skin, acne, and redness.

As you can probably tell, I’m very much into testing out different face creams at the moment and I have found some good ones and some not-so-great ones.
This face cream claims to help with wrinkles, plumpness and radiance. It has a very strong fragrance which I know many people steer clear of however, I actually really enjoy the fragrance that Lancome uses in their products. I received this in a gift with purchase set a while back and I started using it immediately. My first impression of this product was very positive because I really liked the feel of this cream. It made my skin instantly soft and smooth and almost blurred my pores; and not to mention it looks great under makeup as a base. However, after a few days of using this I noticed that my skin texture changed; it made my skin look bumpy and I even had a few breakouts (cystic acne) that toke weeks to totally clear up.
I stopped using it and after a few days I could see that my skin was improving. However, I decided to give it another shot because I absolutely loved the way that it made my skin feel – only this time I started using it as an eye cream and have been doing so for over a month. It creates the perfect base for concealer as it hydrates and plumps; the strong fragrance does not bother my eyes at all but if you are sensitive I do not recommend using this under the eyes. I’m not sure what ingredient was making me breakout but I’m glad I found another purpose for this because I really do like the cream and it does meet all of the claims.
Overall, I would not recommend this if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin.

I received this travel size in a Block Buster (purchase with purchase) a few months back and I was excited to try it out because I haven’t tried much of Estee Lauder’s skincare.
First off; this has a fairly strong scent which I find to be pleasant but may be overwhelming for some. It has a thick balmy consistency which is extremely hydrating. I have mentioned numerous times that I have an oily skin type and therefore would not imagine using this during daytime but I do like a richer cream for my night time routine.
This product claims to improve multiple signs of aging such as loss of firmness and tone, lines and wrinkles, dullness and dryness. I don’t have wrinkles and lines; so I can’t comment on that but what I did notice about this is that when I apply it at night, the next morning my skin is very hydrated, smooth and radiant.
Overall, I like this for a night cream and since it didn’t break me out or give my skin a bumpy texture like another cream I will review this week; I would recommend this. It is on the pricey side so I don’t think I would repurchase unless it was in a value set or another purchase with purchase.
